Our Work

TWOCC is a grassroots global initiative led by trans and gender non-conforming people of color. We work to uplift the lived narratives, experiences, and leadership of trans and gender non-conforming people of color, their families, and comrades while building toward collective liberation for all oppressed people through healing and restorative justice.

Our work is grounded in organizing, culture, and care. We focus on building spaces where trans people not only survive—but lead, heal, create, and thrive.

Community Organizing and Leadership

TWOCC creates opportunities for our community to build power through organizing, education, and movement work.

Level Up: Organizing to Action is a grassroots leadership development program rooted in our belief that our people deserve to be at the front of the fight for justice. Participants gain skills in organizing, advocacy, and community building—all grounded in lived experience.

Our team also supports on-the-ground mobilization, from protests to strategic partnerships, and we remain active in statewide and national movements to protect and affirm trans lives.

Dee Dee’s House

Dee Dee’s House is a trans-led transitional housing program located in Kansas City, named in memory of Dee Dee Pearson—a Black trans woman and beloved community figure whose life was taken by violence. Her legacy lives on in this sanctuary space for healing, rest, and stability.

Dee Dee’s House provides:

  • Short-term housing in a safe, affirming environment
  • Peer-led support and navigation
  • Essentials like food, hygiene products, and transportation
  • A culture of community, dignity, and care

It’s more than a programr. It’s a living tribute built on love and legacy.

Culture, Wellness, and Creativity

At TWOCC, we know that art, joy, and rest are forms of resistance. Our cultural programming brings people together to celebrate identity, build connection, and heal collectively.

4th Saturday Marketplace, created by Regional Director Korea Kelly, is a monthly event that supports queer and trans vendors while raising funds for Dee Dee’s House. It’s become a community staple rooted in economic justice and creative expression.

In 2024, TWOCC launched the Rhythms of Resilience Art Festival, which centers the brilliance of trans artists, performers, and cultural workers through a lens of celebration and storytelling.

TWOCC is expanding access to mental health and wellness programs, including trauma-informed healing, therapy support, and workshops that meet the unique emotional needs of trans and gender non-conforming people of color.

Education and Public Workshops

TWOCC partners with community groups, healthcare providers, and institutions to facilitate powerful workshops on trans justice, intersectionality, and culturally responsive care.

Our sessions are led by those with lived experience and provide real tools for building safer, more inclusive spaces. Education is one of the many ways we create ripple effects of liberation—within systems and beyond them.
